Welcome
I’m Tanay Shah, a psychologist based in Mumbai. I work remotely with adult individuals who find themselves struggling with patterns they don’t fully understand – whether in their thoughts, relationships, or emotional lives. Often, these patterns can feel repetitive, confusing, or difficult to change, even when one is aware of them.

My practice centres on what I call relational templates — the patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world. By understanding how we process our experiences, we can begin to identify what’s getting in the way of a more fulfilling life.
Relationships sit at the heart of both how suffering forms and how it heals. The people who mattered most to us early on shape how we relate today — through the responses we received, and how we came to internalise them.
When our relationships fail to meet what we need as we grow, we lose confidence and develop guarded ways of relating to protect ourselves. These strategies once served a purpose — but the same patterns that helped us then can become the source of what brings us to therapy now.
My approach traces the relational thread through your past, present, and the future you’re working toward. Within the therapeutic relationship, we explore and reshape the patterns and ways of being that no longer serve you.
Through this relationship, you’ll build a stronger sense of self — understanding where your relational template came from, clarifying what you want, and reconnecting with the parts of yourself that were set aside along the way.
